Andes Specialists was born from Maximo Kausch’s deep passion for mountaineering and a vision to showcase the full beauty of the Andes. Raised in Argentina, Max began climbing in the Andes before moving to the UK, where he spent over a decade guiding expeditions in the Himalayas, including summiting K2, the second highest and one of the most challenging mountains in the world.

After years in Asia, Max returned to guide in the Andes and was struck by a pattern: nearly everyone only wanted to climb Aconcagua. Despite the Andes being home to over a hundred peaks above 6,000 meters, most of them remained unknown and unexplored by the wider mountaineering community. That’s when the idea for Andes Specialists took shape. Max saw an opportunity—not just to guide, but to open up the entire range to the world.

In 2012, he launched an ambitious personal project: to climb all 104 Andean peaks over 6,000 meters. So far, he has led 180 expeditions, summited 90 of these peaks, and currently holds the world record for the most 6000ers climbed.

Through this journey, Max built a trusted network of expert local guides across the continent and founded Andes Specialists to connect climbers directly with professionals who truly know the terrain. Unlike intermediary travel agencies that overcharge clients and underpay locals, Andes Specialists offers fair, direct access to world-class mountain experiences across the Andes.
