Hello! 👋
We’ve successfully reached our first objective: Plaza de Mulas at 4,300m 🏔️. All 16 members of our expedition are doing exceptionally well and acclimatizing even better than we expected! 💪
To reach Plaza de Mulas, we passed by the base of Aconcagua’s South Wall and then returned to Confluência for overnight rest. This strategy proved invaluable, as spending most of our day at a lower altitude helps stimulate red blood cell production — a crucial element for high-altitude performance. 🔬🩸
Yesterday, we embarked on a long trek to Plaza de Mulas that took around 8 hours 🚶♂️🚶♀️. We split the team into three groups to boost performance and allow everyone to progress at their own pace. We arrived just before sunset 🌅, perfectly timed for the summit area of Aconcagua to clear of clouds.
Today is a well-deserved rest day 💤. Tomorrow, we’ll begin setting up our camps, but today we plan to visit a nearby glacier at Plaza de Mulas to test our crampons ❄️🧗.
This update is part of our ongoing Aconcagua Expedition, where every step and decision is designed to help you Climb Aconcagua safely and successfully. Stay tuned for more insights on our route, Aconcagua Equipment we’re using, and tips from our Guide to Climb Aconcagua.
Thank you for following our journey! 🙏
